About Legacy Film Lab

Legacy Film Lab is a film developing, scanning, and printing lab in Tustin, California — right on the Tustin–Irvine border, in the heart of Orange County. For more than twenty years, we've developed 35mm, 120, and disposable-camera film, in both color (C-41) and black & white, for everyone from people finishing their very first roll to wedding photographers shooting for paying clients.
We're owned and run by Sam Yu, and the idea behind the lab is simple: film should be fun, not intimidating. No gatekeeping, no "real photographers know…," no making you feel silly for asking. Just fast, friendly, careful work and a team that's genuinely on your side.
Film, without the gatekeeping
A lot of film culture can feel like a members-only club. We think that's backwards. Whether you've been shooting for twenty years or you just found a disposable camera in a drawer, you get the same thing from us: honest advice, real people who care how your images turn out, and no question treated as too basic. We're your partner in your film journey — we've got your back.
What we do
- Develop & scan — 35mm, 120, 220, and disposable cameras, in color (C-41) and black & white.
- Processed with genuine Fujifilm chemistry — for clean, consistent, true-to-life color you can count on, roll after roll.
- Choose your scans — standard resolution for everyday shooting, or max resolution when you want every detail. Develop-only is available too, if you scan at home.
- Prints — get prints made right alongside your developing.
- Push processing, overscans, and sprocket scans — the extras that matter when they matter.
- Free custom color adjustments — tell us the look you're after and we'll dial the color in, at no extra charge. Wedding and portrait shooters lean on this to get client-ready results.
Two scanners, so you get the look you want
Most labs scan on one machine and that's that. We run both Frontier and Noritsu scanners — and they render color and grain differently. That means you can ask for the look you prefer, and if you're not sure, we'll help you choose. It's a small thing that makes a real difference in how your photos feel.
Drop off, or mail from anywhere
Local to Orange County? Drop your film off at our Tustin lab. Anywhere else? Mail it in — for disposable cameras, just send the whole camera, no need to unload it. Either way, we develop your film and send your scans back as a download link, so you get them fast without waiting on the post.
Same-day turnaround on developing for orders dropped off by 1:00 PM Pacific. Later than that, and your film goes into the next processing run.
